McDonough County Board Human Resources and Planning Committee met Nov. 12.

Chair Letha Clark called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review and Approve Minutes from October 8, 2020
Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Dixon to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Animal Control Report
Animal Control Officer, Kelsey Havens gave the report. The total number of dogs in the shelter at the end of October was 6 and there were 64 cats. Chair Clark informed the Committee that Havens started back on November 1. A discussion was held regarding changes that have been made, and plans for future changes. Bonnie Scripps said the Humane Society purchased a cage unit to be used for the cats, they had 25 cats fixed, and that the Brix Challenge is being finalized. A discussion was held regarding the large number of cats coming in to the shelter.

Claims
County Chair Schwerer asked why the Farm King receipts don’t match the claim sheet. Joe said he puts the receipts from the store, and the statement on the claim sheet.
Member Cox moved with a second by Member McLean to approve claims as submitted. Motion carried on voice vote.
Other
Member Dixon inquired about an email that was received regarding the Macomb Petland. Lorri Kachinovas addressed the Committee, she is a volunteer at the animal shelter. She will be sending an email to all Committee members with idea to improve the cat room. Chair Clark thanked her for coming and speaking to the Committee.
County Board Chair Comments
County Chair Schwerer announced that the County Board Meeting will be held via Zoom only. Member Dixon asked if the Committee meetings will go back to Zoom meetings, Schwerer said not at this time.

Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Kirby to adjourn the meeting at 7:35 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
