City doubles funding for Small Business Relief Program

The Galesburg City COVID Small Business Relief Program will be getting a financial boost of $250,000 in additional funding, according to KWQC News.

The additional funding is provided in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and doubles previous resources for the program from $250,000 to $500,000.

The program has been implemented to provide up to $25,000 in financial relief to qualifying small businesses that have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Grants can be used to cover costs of operating incurred from March 1, 2020 through December 30, 2020. Costs eligible for reimbursement include payroll, fixed debts, COVID-19 protection measures, accounts payable and lost sales or as a result of the pandemic.

Applications will be evaluated and grant amounts will be determined by the severity of economic hardship the business has suffered. Priority will be given to businesses that have been especially affected by the pandemic including restaurants, bars, spas, salons and retail stores.

The deadline for applications is January 11, 2021.
