McDonough County Road and Bridge Committee met Nov. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The McDonough County Road and Bridge Committee held their monthly meeting at 7:00 P.M. Committee Members present included Chair Dave Cortelyou, Mike Cox, George Dixon, Ken Durkin, Craig Foster, Rod McGrew, and Marcia Twaddle. Vice Chair Dick Marcott was absent. Other persons in attendance: Dave Cadwalader, Rick Walker, Patrick Stout, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes.

Chair Dave Cortelyou called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Review Minutes from October 1, 2020

Member Durkin moved with a second by Member Foster to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Project Update

Engineer Walker discussed what bridge project will be done next year. In January of 2018 they had 5 bridges on the list, two have been completed and one is no longer being considered, but an additional bridge was added to the list. Walker recommended doing grindstone work on bridge structure 3030 but said that it would not be done until 2022. Member Foster suggested to go ahead with the grindstone on the bridge.

Walker informed the Committee they have an employee retiring at the end of the month, and that the arrival of the new truck is running late.

Resolution 19-00111-00-RS to Resurface 3.8 Miles of County Highway 24

Member McGrew moved with a second by Member Dixon to approve Resolution 19-00111-00-RS to Resurface 3.8 Miles of County Highway 24. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Resolution 18-00300-00-BR Joint Funding

Member Cox moved with a second by Member Durkin to approve Resolution 18-00300-00-BR Joint Funding. Motion carried on a voice vote.

October Work Report

Report given by Dave Cadwalader. On the county roads they performed spray patch, sign maintenance, disced shoulders, broomed for paint stripers, installed a field entrance, cleaned ditches and removed a culvert. In Townships they worked on the Bushnell Township bridge, and assisted Walnut Grove on the bridge at 1300E. Routine maintenance was performed on equipment.

Claims

Member McGrew moved with a second by Member Twaddle to approve the claims submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Other Business

None.

County Chair Comments

County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that the County had 19 new cases of Covid-19.

Adjourn

Member Foster moved with a second by Member Cox to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
