McDonough County Road & Bridge Committee met Oct. 1.

The McDonough County Road and Bridge Committee held their monthly meeting at 7:00 P.M. Committee Members present included Chair Dave Cortelyou, Mike Cox, George Dixon, Ken Durkin, Rod McGrew, and Marcia Twaddle. Member Craig Foster, and Vice Chair Dick Marcott were absent. Other persons in attendance: Dave Cadwalader, Rick Walker, Patrick Stout, Scott Hance, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes.
Chair Dave Cortelyou called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
Review Minutes from September 3, 2020
Member McGrew moved with a second by Member Twaddle to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Project Update
Engineer Walker discussed the Bushnell bridge that and said that it is going well. He also announced that the Sugar Creek bridge project has been completed.
2020 Centerline Striping Contract
Member Cox moved with a second by Member Dixon to approve the 2020 Centerline Striping Contract at $.13 per foot. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Walnut Grove Township, County Aid Bridge Project 1942-31
Member Durkin moved with a second by Member McGrew to approve the Walnut Grove Township, County Aid Bridge Project 1942-31. Motion carried on a voice vote.
September Work Report
Report was given by Dave Cadwalader. On the County roads they picked up a deer and a coyote, cut brush, disced shoulders, and had some tree removal. They also performed hand and blade patching, sign maintenance, and replaced a CMP field entrance. In Townships they did some spray patch for LaHarpe, cleaned a ditch for Scotland and started the Bushnell Township bridge project 26.21-400.53
Claims
Member McGrew moved with a second by Member Cox to approve the claims submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Other Business
County Clerk DeJaynes thanked Dave Cadwalader and the Highway Department for getting her ballot drop box set outside of the Courthouse.
County Chair Comments
County Chair Schwerer inquired about the salt for winter. Engineer Walker said that it has been approved and that the cost is approximately the same as last year.
