First Mid Bank & Trust has been named by Newsweek Magazine as the best bank in Illinois.

Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce said the honor is the first ever for the magazine and was made to recognize financial institutions that best serve customers.

Newsweek partnered with Lending Tree to analyze 2,500 FDIC-insured banking facilities offering checking and saving accounts and ranked them based on a set of 55 determinants and 19 categories to come up with the winner, the report said. Best in class were decided among both big and small banks.
