ILL. - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) have low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) available for Illinois small businesses, as well as agricultural cooperatives, aquaculture businesses and non-profits who were impacted due to civil unrest from May until July, according to a news release.
“The SBA is strongly committed to providing the people of Illinois with the most effective and customer-focused response possible to assist small businesses with federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans,” SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza said in the news release.
“Getting businesses and communities up and running after a disaster is our highest priority at SBA,” the release continued.
The loans were made available due to a letter Gov. J.B. Pritzker sent SBA last month which requested a disaster declaration because of the civil unrest that occurred.
“The SBA can help affected small businesses and nonprofit organizations overcome their economic losses by offering working capital loans, but the help cannot start until they submit an SBA disaster loan application to us,” SBA’s Illinois District Director Robert Steiner said in the news release.
