McDonough County Finance Committee Met September 9

McDonough County Finance Committee met Sept. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The monthly Finance Committee meeting was held at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee members present were Chair Travis Hiel, Vice Chair Larry Aurelio, Letha Clark, Dave Cortelyou, Rod McGrew, and Dave Nissen. Others in attendance included Patrick Stout, Keith Krohe, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes.

Chair Hiel called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Review and Approve Budget Minutes from August 11, 2020 at 3:00 p.m.

Vice Chair Aurelio moved with a second by Member Nissen to approve the minutes from August 11, 2020 at 3:00 p.m., August 12, 2020 at 3:00 p.m., and August 12, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Insurance Update

Keith Krohe with Crossroads Insurance gave an update with a 9 month comparison from 2019 to 2020. The insurance plan cost is $101,852.00 less than it was last year.

MCPT Report Review & Approval

The monthly request for August 2020 was reviewed. Vice Chair Aurelio moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the MCPT Report in the amount of $1,189.50 for August, 2020. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Bushnell Senior Meals Report Review & Approval

The monthly report for August 2020 from the YMCA for transportation of senior meals was reviewed. Member Nissen moved with a second by Vice Chair Aurelio to approved the August 2020 YMCA report in the amount of $678.75. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Coroner Report

The monthly Coroner Report was received and filed.

Monthly Financial Reports

The monthly Financial Reports were received and filed. County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that the fees and fines will be down considerably.

Transfer of Funds

None.

Warrants Issued in Vacation

Vice Chair Aurelio moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the Warrants Issued in Vacation. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Approval of Resolutions for Tax Deeds

Member McGrew moved with a second by Member Nissen to send the Resolutions for Tax Deeds on PIN#s 02-000-568-00, 05-000-876-00, 11-200-407-00, 11-200-427-00, 11-200-631-00, 11-200-694-00, 11-300-683-05, 12-000-381-05, 16-000-356-05, 18-000-186-05, and 18-000-368-00 to full Board. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Approve the Resolution for Recorder Automation Fund Budget

Vice chair Aurelio moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the Resolution for Recorder Automation Fund Budget. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Approval of Ordinance for Cure’s Program Financial Support

Vice Chair Aurelio moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the Ordinance for Cure’s Program Financial Support. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Approval of Claims

Vice Chair Aurelio moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the Claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Executive Session

None.

Other

Chair Hiel informed the Committee that he had talked to the Coroner regarding a few requests that he had received. Hiel recommended trading the Coroner’s car. He also requested $5,000.00 for a Deputy Coroner. Member Cortelyou said that he would like to see a pay structure for call outs, Member McGrew agreed that he would like to see this as well. Chair Hiel said that he was thinking $2,500.00.

County Board Chair Comments

County Chair Schwerer asked the Committee Member’s opinion on a life insurance plan presented by Dave with Mass Mutual last month. Committee Chair Hiel did not think that we needed it at this time. County Chair Schwerer announced that Craig Foster will be replacing former Board Member Trevor Toland.

Member Cortelyou moved with a second by Member Clark to adjourn the meeting at 6:37 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
