City of Galesburg Community Relations Commission met Sept. 3.

Meeting called to order on September 3, 2020 at 6:38pm by King.
Members Present: King, Donaldson, Grimes, McKillip, Wallace
McKillip moves to approve minutes from the August meeting, Grimes seconds.
Chairman Remarks:
● Statement for landlords submitted by McKillip was reviewed and edited. McKillip and King will work together to add a summary about the Commission. The final draft will be sent to the commission for review.
Commission Member Remarks
● Grimes updated the commission on the letter of support that the NAACP sent to the city council, the recent protest and the response from the city council. The commission discussed concerns with elected official’s views on systemic racism and how we can offer educational opportunities to the community.
● The commission will continue conversations over the next few months around bringing educational opportunities to our community regarding mental health and possibly hold an event later in the year.
● Jessica will continue to update the commission on events that are happening through the ROE and discuss whether the commission would like to partner for any parent workshops.
McKillip made a motion to adjourn at 7:57pm, Grimes seconded.
