McDonough County Finance Committee met Aug. 11.

The Finance Committee Budget meeting was held at 3:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd Floor Law Library. Committee members present were Chair Travis Hiel, Vice Chair Larry Aurelio, Letha Clark, and Dave Nissen. Members absent were Dave Cortelyou, and Rod McGrew. Other persons present were Lori Sutton with MCPT, Sheriff Nick Petitgout, Coroner Eric Jameson, County Assessor Tammy Camp, Judge Poncin, ESDA Director Edgar Rodriguez, County Engineer Rick Walker, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes.
Chair Hiel called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
BUDGET-Senior Transportation
Loris Sutton presented her FY 2021 budget for $21,000.00.
BUDGET-McDonough County Sheriff’s Department
Sheriff Nick Petitgout presented his FY 2021 budget. Petitgout discussed salaries. He believes he will have a remaining $38,000.00 in the County General fund.
BUDGET-Coroner
Coroner Eric Jameson presented his FY 2021 budget. He asked for $5,000 for a Deputy Clerk, an increase of $50.00 for rent, $42,000 for a new vehicle, and an increase in the autopsy line item as more autopsies are being requested.
BUDGET-County Assessor
County Assessor Tammy Camp presented her FY 2021 budget.
BUDGET-Judge Poncin
Judge Poncin presented his FY 2021 budget. He informed the Committee that the Law Library fee will drop to $2.00 per court case. He requested a 4.8% salary increase for the administrative assistant.
BUDGET-ESDA
Director Edgar Rodriguez presented his FY 2021 budget. He informed the Committee that the budget for the alert system should go down approximately $5,000.00 next year, he also discussed the Cures Act.
BUDGET-Highway Department
County Engineer Rick Walker presented his FY 2021 budget. He does not have any significant changes to his budget. Walker said that his budget includes the new state money to rebuild Illinois. Their salary increase was set by the union contract. He would like to update his computer as well.
