West Salem Rural Fire Protection District responded to 11 calls in 2018 - 56 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in West Salem Rural included 10 fires - six structure fires, two vehicle fires and two other fires.

In all, the department saw $8,300 in fire loss - or about $830 per fire.

The department also received one false call.
