Galesburg Fire District responded to 448 calls in 2018 - 1.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Galesburg included 86 fires - 41 structure fires, 13 vehicle fires and 32 other fires.

In all, the department saw $414,725 in fire loss - or about $4,822 per fire.

The department also received 362 false calls, including 39 malicious calls and 323 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Galesburg Fire Fighters Pension Fund, which has 42 active employees and 69 retired or inactive employees, was $207,883 in debt as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $1,943 for every fire in 2017.
