Knoxville FPD responds to 41 fires in 2018

Knoxville Fire Protection Department responded to 50 calls in 2018 - 42.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Knoxville included 41 fires - six structure fires, six vehicle fires and 29 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $609,200 in fire loss - or about $14,859 per fire.

The department also received eight false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Knoxville Fire Protection Department had an annual budget of $339,350 in 2018.
