McDonough County Law & Legal Committee met July 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members present included Committee Vice Chair Joe Erlandson, Lee Calvert, Michael Kirby, Bob Mahr, Julie Melvin, and Paul Trimmer. Chair McGrew and Member Hiel were absent. Other persons in attendance were County Chair Scott Schwerer, County Board Assistant Jana Walker, Patrick Stout, Ric Smart and Dave Schaab.

Review & Approve June 1, 2020 Minutes

Member Calvert motioned to approve minutes as submitted, Member Melvin seconded. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Waste Management Update

Dave Schaab gave report.

Tri-County Recycling

None.

Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report

Ric Smart gave report. Seven veterans were given assistance in June. Total assistance amounted to $1,350.15. $30.00

was used from petty cash for transportation to Quincy on the McDonough County Demand Response Van.

Sheriff’s Report

Chair Schwerer reported for Sheriff Petitgout. Jail population is at 21 and everything is going well at the jail, no cases of Covid-19.

Assessor’s Office Update

No report.

Claims Review and Approval

Member Mahr moved with a second by Member Kirby to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

County Board Chair Comments

County Chair Schwerer still is encouraging social distancing and wearing a mask.

Public Comment

None.

Adjourn

With no further business to discuss, Member Trimmer moved, seconded by Member Kirby, to adjourn at 7:19 p.m.
