United Board of Education met July 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER 

The regular meeting of the United Board of Education was called to order at 5:00 p.m., July 16, 2020. Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin.

AGENDA 

Hank Shimmin made a motion to approve the agenda with a second by Aaron Leary Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.

CLOSED SESSION 

Aaron Leary made a motion to enter into closed session at 5:03 p.m. with intent to return to open session to interview for open board positions, personnel and closed session minutes. Hank Shimmin seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.

OPEN SESSION 

At 6:00 p.m. the regular board meeting was called to order. Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Also in attendance: Sheila Pressley, Amy Schmitz, Chris Schwarz, Chad Robertson, Maggie Wallace, Pat Coate, Kris Repp and the attached list of community members. 

PUBLIC COMMENTS 

Several members of the community spoke to the board on the re-opening of school due to COVID-19.

TENT BUDGET 

A resolution was made by Hank Shimmin with a second by Debbie King to accept the tentative budget and set the budget hearing for September 10, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.

ADMIN COMP RPT 

A resolution to approve a resolution to approve the administrative compensation report was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Hank Shimmin. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.

CALENDAR The resolution to amend the 2020-21 calendar was tabled until the July 27 special meeting.

BOND FIRM 

A motion to approve First Midstate and Chapman and Cutler was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Hank Shimmin. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.

EMPLOYMENT 

Hank Shimmin made a motion to employ Jeff Kramer as Jr. High Tech and Math Teacher for the 2020-21 school year. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.

A motion to set non-certified wages as presented was made by Hank Shimmin with a second by Debbie King. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.

CLOSED MINUTES 

Aaron Leary made a motion to keep closed session minutes from July 2019 through June 2020 closed. Joel Johnson seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Debbie King, Aaron Leary and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.

CONSENT AGENDA 

A motion to approve the consent agenda as presented was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Debbie King. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Craig Allaman, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.

SUPT REPORT 

The Superintendent updated the board on the Jr. High Roof, auditorium, track and solar projects.

A special meeting will be held on July 27th at 6:00 to make a decision on the return to school.

Adjourn Craig Allaman made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m. Hank Shimmin seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin, Craig Allaman and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.
