First Mid Bank & Trust will soon be distributing some much-needed help in the form of grant dollars to dozens of local Illinois food pantries.
It's all a part of the $20,000 grant First Mid was awarded from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago's COVID-19 Relief Grant Program. The program's goal is to help nonprofits and small businesses impacted by the ongoing public health emergency.
Matt Smith, chief financial officer of First Mid Bank & Trust, expects the money to provide some relief to those who are helping others within their communities.
"Giving back to the community has always been a focus for First Mid," Smith said in a release on the Galesburg Chamber of Commerce website. "We are happy that we are able to support these organizations during these times."
A total of 54 food banks will benefit from the grants. A complete list of those nonprofits can be found on First Mid's website.
