A few things for parents this July, during Bereaved Parents Awareness Month:
1. You have a right to feel how you do about your loss. There’s no one way to grieve the loss of a child.
2. Remember that some days will be good days, filled with laughter, thoughts, and beautiful memories.
3. There’s no right or wrong way to grieve. You can grieve however you wish. As long as you’re not hurting yourself, there’s no right or wrong way, and no time limit either.
4. You have the right to find peace when you are ready. It won’t be the same peace you had before your loss, but you may realize that peace and pain can exist together.
5. Grief requires patience and self-acceptance. Be gentle and patient with family and friends, but especially yourself.
