McDonough County Law & Legal Committee met May 4.

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held via Teleconference due to the Governor’s stay at Home Orders in Illinois. Committee Members present included Committee Chair Rod McGrew, Vice Chair Joe Erlandson, Lee Calvert, Michael Kirby, Bob Mahr, Julie Melvin, Travis Hiel and Paul Trimmer. Other persons in attendance were County Chair Scott Schwerer, Sheriff Nick Petitgout, Chief Deputy Adam Cremer, County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes, Patrick Stout, Dave Schaab, and States Attorney Matt Kwacala.
Chair McGrew called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.
Waste Management Update
Dave Schaab gave report.
Tri-County Recycling
None.
Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report
Ric Smart was unable to attend, but reported that six veterans were given assistance in April. Total assistance amounted to $1,350.15. The transportation van is still suspended. I have not had any communication on restarting it. Some of the driver’s physicals are expiring during this stretch. I am trying to get a confirmation that they will be given an automatic 30 day extension to get a new physical once the VTN network restarts.
Sheriff’s Report
Sheriff Nick Petitgout and Chief Deputy Cremer gave the jail report.
Assessor’s Office Update
No report.
Claims Review and Approval
Member Hiel moved with a second by Member Mahr to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
