Knoxville Community Unit School District 202 Board of Education met April 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Community Unit School District #202, Knox County, met in a special meeting duly called and held at 6:00 p.m. at 809 East Main Street, Knoxville, Illinois, which is within the boundaries of said District. The President called the meeting to order and directed that the roll be called. Upon roll being called, the following members were found to be present (virtually):

Mr. Ericson, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Lenz, Mrs. McCracken, Mrs. Myers, Mr. Stearns and Mr. Callahan

And the following absent:

4. Also present were: Steve Wilder, Nick Ischer

5. Discussion Items

5.1 Solar Project. Due to space issues, it was decided to have the solar array only at Mable Woolsey at this time. The Board would like to have a roof inspection at KHS in the future, to make sure solar panels would fit.

5.2 Artificial Turf. The Board decided to pass on artificial turf due to 75% of the community rejecting the idea.

5.3 Waiver of Tuition for Non Resident Employees. Mr. Wilder is going to send a survey out to staff to gauge interest. Also discussed state funding and offsetting the tuition we would not be receiving.

6. It was moved by Member Myers and seconded by Member Ericson for Approval of Amended 2020-2021 School Calendar with Late Starts.

AYE: Mr. Ericson, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. McCracken, Mrs. Myers and Mr. Callahan. 

NAY: Mr. Lenz, Mr. Stearns

Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.

7. It was moved by Member Stearns and seconded by Member Ericson for Approval of Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach - Alex Satunas

AYE: Mr. Ericson, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Lenz, Mrs. McCracken, Mrs. Myers, Mr. Stearns and Mr. Callahan. 

NAY: None

Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. 

8.Adjournment

There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Member Erickson and seconded by Member Lenz that the meeting be adjourned. The President put the question to the Board and the motion unanimously carried and the meeting so adjourned at 8:18 p.m.
