McDonough County Human Resources and Planning Committee met March 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Human Resources and Planning Committee met beginning at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd floor Law Library. 

Committee Members in attendance included Committee Chair Letha Clark, Vice Chair Mike Cox, Larry Aurelio, Michael Kirby, Deckle McLean and Dave Nissen. Member Terra Litchfield was absent. Others in attendance included County Chair Scott Schwerer, Eric Blakely, Bonnie Scripps, Gayle Carper, and Stacey Alexander.

Chair Letha Clark called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Review & Approval of February 18, 2020 Minutes Member McLean moved, with a second by Member Kirby, to approve the February 18, 2020 minutes. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Animal Control Report Committee Chair Clark welcomed Member Dixon back to the Committee. Chair Clark reported. 5 dogs were picked up, 24 were dropped off, 11 reclaimed, 6 adopted, 17 left the shelter and 0 sent to rescue. At the beginning of January there were 17 dogs and 29 at the end of January, 9 of those dogs are the court case dogs. Cats 11 dropped off/released, 0 reclaimed, 5 adopted and 0 euthanized. At the beginning of January population at 41 and the end of the month population at 36. Court case is the 16th for the 9 dogs, 1 cat and 3 birds.

Mowing at the Animal shelter has been advertised, with the resignation of S & G Mowing. One bid has been submitted so far and we are having an open meeting before Board on the 18th to decide who will take over mowing. Still trying to find a commercial size washer for the Animal Shelter. Have a new employee starting on March 23, 2020, Zachary Welsh.

Policies & Procedures New Policies and Procedures given to Gayle for the City Attorney.

Humane Society: Bonnie Scripps commented on how nice it’s been for the sponsorships for the cats, and there are 11 adoptable dogs, that are great dogs. Humane Society cancelled yearly meeting. They are starting planning for their June fundraiser.

GIS Update No Report.

Claims Member Dixon moved, seconded by Vice Chair Cox, to approve claims as submitted. Vice Chair Cox questioned two claims from AllenHouse, Chair Clark explained they had trouble with the sewer, also the Office Specialists claim, it wasn’t clear, Angie takes care of that, so check on the Office Specialist claim. Motion carried on voice vote.

Other

All three computers need replaced at the Animal Shelter, Chair Clark is talking with TimbukTech tomorrow.

Member Kirby wants to promote the Census 2020 at Polling Places, County Chair Schwerer said to check with Gretchen to be certain.

County Chair Schwerer made sure everyone got the email from Lynette Cale at the Health Department on Covid-19. Bids are being taken on Wednesday. Vice Chair Cox asked about maintenance doing the mowing.

Adjourn Member Aurelio moved, with a second by Member Dixon, that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried on a voice vote. With no further business to discuss the meeting adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
