TURNBULL FUNERAL HOME - OQUAWKA: Robert E. Tatman

Turnbull Funeral Home - Oquawka recently issued the following announcement.

Robert E. Tatman, age 81, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 7:55 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois. He was born on August 25, 1938 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of James and Madge (Ostrom) Tatman. Bob attended schools in Monmouth and attended Monmouth High School. On April 4, 1959, he married Mary L. Skinner in Monmouth and she is surviving. Bob began a career in automobile detailing with his brother, Donald at Addleman Green in Monmouth. He later worked for Ray Green Motors and then formed Tatman Motors of Monmouth with his brother Don. In 1987. Bob began Tatman 1 Auto Sales which he operated with his family up unto the present. Bob enjoy horses, flea markets, going to auctions, and was a huge fan of NASCAR. He most loved spending time with his friends and family. Bob always seemed to help and take care of others of his family or friends.

Bob is survived by his wife Mary of Monmouth, Illinois, three sons; Kenny (Patty) Tatman, Danny (Joan) Tatman, and Larry Tatman, all of Monmouth, Illinois, four grandchildren; Doug, Eddie, Andrew, and Jenna, and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant granddaughter, Cecelia, and seven brothers; Don, Chuck, Harold "Red", Raymond, Pete, Howard "Shorty", and Dick, and two sisters; Erma Hull and Lena Renwick.

A private graveside interment will be held at Monmouth Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois. No visitation is planned. His family would like to plan a public service at a later date. A memorial fund is being established for Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth.
