Students and teachers are being asked to collect their belongings from classrooms going into the first week of distance learning for District 205, the Register-Mail reported.
While the new e-learning plan that includes teachers instructing students electronically from their own homes will go into effect this past Monday, students and staff still can access the schools to pick up things such as their school-issued Chromebooks.
Such materials may be needed for students to be able to participate in distance learning curriculums.
Galesburg Superintendent John Asplund told the Register-Mail that clearing items from the schools does not quite signal an end to the regular school year. However, the students and staff may have left items in the schools when they were originally closed following March 16 stay-at-home order for the entire state.
“Right now we want to get things out in case somebody needs something for their schooling,” Asplund told the Register-Mail.
Asplund said that any staff or student who has items in the school they don’t want to risk losing should come and retrieve them.
