With the COVID-19 outbreak continuing to worsen efforts have been kick-started to get more doctors to deal with the pandemic. One of the measures is increasing the number of medical personnel to help deal with the growing number of COVID-19 patients in Illinois.
To achieve this, lawmakers have called for former doctors, physicians’ assistants, nurses, and respiratory care therapists to re-join their practice and lend a helping hand, according to Illinois Senate Republican GOP.
To facilitate their immediate reinstatement to the healthcare workforce, the state has waived the license fees for these people. The health care license reinstatement forms can be accessed through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation’s website.
To put medical professionals where they are needed, the state will continue to coordinate with health-care sites and hospitals and expedite the applications as they are submitted.
For medical professionals whose licenses are expiring soon, the state has taken the action of extending their licenses through the end of September. This comes as the number of COVID-19 infections is on the rise.
Medical professionals in Illinois hospitals have been overwhelmed by the growing number of patients, and the state government is doing everything it can to halt the spread. A stay-at-home order was extended by Gov. J.B. Pritzker on April 1, and residents are required to stay inside until April 30.
For those living within the border communities such as Quad Cities, the state will give them permission to practice within the Illinois borders.
