Village of Altona Village Board met Feb. 6.

The board meeting was called to order on Thursday, February 6th, by President Derrick Appell. Board memberspresent: President: Derrick Appell, Treasurer: Mark Compton, Clerk: Kelly Scott and Trustees: Dale Grawe,Shirley Kistler, Keith Holland, Nick Morris, Brian DeVito and Ryan West. Public present: Members of the press,Chad Long: Village Attorney and 4 guests.
Minutes approved from January 2nd, 2020 meeting with motion to approve by Keith and 2nd by Dale. All Ayes.
Payment of bills approved for February 2020 was motioned by Keith and 2nd by Brian. Ayes: Dale, Keith, Shirley,Nick, Ryan and Brian. Passes: 6-0
Financial report was reviewed by Mark Compton. No Interfund transfer were made.
Public Comment: Rich Wegner was asking if the Village paid someone to clear the sidewalk in front of the PostOffice or was that voluntarily done by someone else. Derrick replied that is was done voluntarily.Old Business
Code Book Revisions of any Ordinances: Need to continue looking through the Code Book so see if any changesneed to be made. Start looking over Chapter 4 and will go over next meeting.
R.O.W.V.A. to use Altona Ball Diamond: Talked about lighting and who pays for. However, there are someregulations that our diamond does not meet, such as our Home plate is too close to the backstop. Ryan willcontinue to look into and discuss further.
Appropriations: Need to look over and see if any increases/changes are needed.New Business:
Announcements were read by Derrick: Altona Day is June 27th 2020.
Summer Help: Discussed hiring someone for part-time summer help. Derrick will contact the Village InsuranceCompany to see if there is an age limit for hiring.
Upcoming Garbage Contract: Tom Rollins presented a proposal.Committee Reports
Water/Sewer:
Streets/Garbage:
Ward Street & S. Station Street Drainage update: The tile is in.
Knox County is lined up to do oil and chipping for the streets for this summer.
Parks/Sidewalks:
Tree Removal: Still in progress. Hopefully done in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Ideas for summer projects: Dugout roofs and painting, fence by Park, basketball court and light pole(solar?), new swings and slide.
