Carl Sandburg College President Dr. Seamus Reilly was offered a contract extension of four years last month by the Board of Trustees.
“I would like to thank the board for the opportunity to continue to serve Carl Sandburg College as president,” Reilly said in a statement. “The board, faculty and staff at Sandburg work tirelessly to support our district, and I am honored to work with them to continue to serve all residents of District 518.”
According to the college, the renewed contract begins July 1 and ends June 30, 2024.
Reilly, who has been in the position since July 2018, is the school's seventh president.
"Dr. Reilly has done a wonderful job and is a valuable part of the Sandburg community," Board Chairperson Gayla Pacheco said in a statement. "We are pleased at the work he has done in his two years with our students, faculty and staff, and the relationships he has built throughout our district makes him the right person to continue leading Carl Sandburg College for the next four years and beyond."
