OSF Holy Family Medical Center issued the following announcement on March 10.
Today's #ClinicianTuesday features Tonya Gibbs, APRN, specializing in Family Practice. She cares for patients of all ages.
Tonya started at OSF Medical Group - Monmouth in her APRN role in October, 2019. However, she worked in the clinic several years prior with a provider that has since moved away from the area. She shared that Monmouth has always felt like home.
Tonya shared, "Growing up, I had a grandmother that lived with us and she had a lot of chronic health issues and I grew up learning to take care of her. Caring for others comes naturally to me.
"I chose to pursue a career with OSF HealthCare because I believe in and support the Mission and vision of OSF. At OSF, I feel and witness God’s work and love, every day."
Tonya's practice is to form a partnership with her patients in which compassionate, holistic, evidence based care will lead to the patient maintaining optimal health and wellness. Her goal is to educate and encourage the patient to become responsible for his/her health. Knowledge is powerful!
When asked about her hobbies, Tonya shared, "One of my favorite things to do is quilting. I’ve been doing it for about seven years. The thing I like most about quilting is being able to tap into my creative side and create something beautiful, meaningful, useful, and from my heart."
You may be surprised to know that Tonya and her husband have a small family farm where they raise chickens, goats, pigs and cows. They also have beloved dogs and cats that complete their family. Another fun fact, she was born in the Monmouth hospital during a blizzard in early January. She now has three grown children and two grandchildren of her own.
Tonya said this photo of she and her husband George was taken on vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama. "It’s one of our favorite spots to relax and enjoy the sun, sand and great weather!"
Thank you for serving with the greatest care and love, Tonya!
