CALL TO ORDER

The Truth in Taxation hearing of the United Board of Education was called to order at 5:00 p.m. December 12, 2019. Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Aaron Leary, Joel Johnson, Kristin Dutton, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Also in attendance: Sheila Pressley, Brian and Kenneth Higbee, Jennifer Stoneking, Drew Witherell, Chris Schwarz, Amy Schmitz, Pat Coate, Maggie Wallace and Kris Repp.

TRUTH IN TAX

The proposed tax levy was discussed with the board.

Hank Shimmin made a motion to adjourn the Truth in Taxation hearing at 5:08 p.m. Kristin Dutton made a second to the motion. Roll Call: Aye: Hank Shimmin, Aaron Leary, Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson and Debbie King. Nay: none.

Regular Meeting

CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the United Board of Education was called to order at 5:09 p.m. December 12, 2019. Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Aaron Leary, Joel Johnson, Kristin Dutton, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Also in attendance: Sheila Pressley, Carson Clayton, Brian and Kenneth Higbee, Jennifer Stoneking, Drew Witherell, Chris Schwarz, Amy Schmitz, Pat Coate, Maggie Wallace and Kris Repp.

AGENDA

Aaron Leary made a motion to approve the agenda with a second by Debbie King. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.

SOLAR POWER

Discussion was held regarding the solor power options with Eagle Point/Simple Ray and it was decided to go ahead with a 6 month contract.

TAX LEVY

A motion was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Kristin Dutton to approve the tax levy for the 2020-2021 school year. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.

ABATEMENT

A resolution to approve the $300,000 abatement for the 2020-2021 school year was made by Hank Shimmin with a second by Aaron Leary. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.

POLICY

Aaron Leary made a motion to approve the Board Policy Updates as presented. Joel Johnson seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.

MAINT GRANT

Aaron Leary made a motion to approve the Board Policy Updates as presented. Joel Johnson seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.

JH ROOF

A motion was made by Joel Johnson to seek bids for JH Roof Project as per Life Safety Amendment. Debbie King seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none

CONSENT AGENDA

A resolution to approve the consent agenda as presented was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Joel Johnson. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.

CLOSED SESSION

At 5:44, Hank Shimmin made a motion to enter into closed session, with intent to return to open, for the purpose of appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. The selection of a person to fill a public office, including a vacancy in public office, when the District is given power to appoint under law, or the discipline, performance or removal of the occupant of a public office, when the District is given power to remove the occupant under law. Debbie King seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Kristin Dutton and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.

RESIGNATION

A motion was made by Debbie King with a second by Joel Johnson to regretfully accept the resignation of Amanda Switzer, West Elementary Paraprofessional as of 12/2/19. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Aaron Leary, Kristin Dutton, Debbie King and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.

EMPLOYMENT

Hank Shimmin made a motion to employ Marc McMahon as HS Head Softball Coach for the 2020 season. Kristin Dutton seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.

A motion to employ Brooke Anderson as HS Assistant Softball Coach was made by Hank Shimmin with a second by Debbie King. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.

A motion to employ the fall coaches as per coaching schedule was made by Kristin Dutton with a second by Joel Johnson. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Kristin Dutton, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.

Adjourn
