Williamsfield Community Unit School District Board of Education met December 9

Williamsfield Community Unit School District Board of Education met Dec. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

1. The meeting was called to order by Board President Stewart. 

2. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 

3. Roll Call was taken. In attendance were Brian Howard, April Bouchez, Lisa Hanson, Teresa Stewart, Jolene Tucker and Lora Kutkat. Chuck Ingle was absent. 

4. There was an opportunity for public comment. A thank you note was read from Victor Mahnesmith and family. 

5. Motion by Kutkat, second by Tucker to approve the following Consent Agenda items. 

Roll call vote: Howard - yes; Bouchez - yes; Hanson - yes; Kutkat - yes; Tucker - yes; Stewart - yes. All in favor. Motion carried. 

All items listed under the consent agenda are considered to be routine by the Board of Education and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a board member requests, in which event the item will be removed from the consent agenda and considered individually. 

Consent Agenda Items

a. Approval of December bills 

b. Approval of minutes of regular Board of Education meeting on November 4, 2019 

c. Approval of Amy Buss resignation effective at the end of the 2019-2020 school year

d. Approval of district liability insurance policy renewal 

6. The 2020 senior trip proposal was presented by Seniors Gionna Ott and Karsyn Bennett. This trip is similar to last year's senior trip, and will use the school's suburbans as transportation. Chaperones will be Mr. and Mrs. Kent Rigg, Mr. Bell and Mr. Mahnesmith. After questions and discussion, motion by Howard, second by Kutkat to approve the 2020 senior trip to Pigeon Forge, TN. 

Roll call vote: Howard - yes; Bouchez - yes; Hanson - yes; Tucker - yes; Kutkat - yes; Stewart - yes. All in favor. Motion carried. 

7. After discussion, the 2020 varsity baseball's spring break trip to Gainesville, TX proposal was approved with a motion to approve by Kutkat and second by Hanson. 

Roll call vote: Howard - yes; Bouchez - yes; Hanson - yes; Tucker - yes; Kutkat - yes; Stewart - yes. All in favor. Motion carried. 

8. Motion by Kutkat, second by Tucker to approve the 2020 softball spring break trip proposal to Nashville, TN. This will be the first trip for softball. The time frame will be the same time as the baseball trip and the district will provide equal transportation for the baseball and softball teams. 

Roll call vote: Howard - yes; Bouchez - yes; Hanson - yes; Tucker - yes; Kutkat - yes; Stewart - yes. All in favor. Motion carried.

9. After discussion, motion by Howard, second by Kutkat to approve giving our architect permission to apply for the FY2020 Round 1 School Maintenance Grant. Ayes - 6. Opposed - 0. All in favor. Motion carried. 

10. The proposal to mill clean & epoxy kitchen sanitary pipe was discussed. The pipe near the dishwasher station is full of scaling and blockages under the wall between the culinary lab and science room. The work could be done over Christmas break and the architect can file a Health/Life Safety amendment. Motion by Hanson, second by Howard to approve the proposal. 

Roll call vote: Howard - yes; Bouchez - yes; Hanson - yes; Kutkat - yes; Tucker - yes; Stewart - yes. All in favor. Motion carried. 

11. Motion by Kutkat, second by Hanson to approve the proposed language update in the first read of updates to BOE Policy 2:160. Ayes - 6. Opposed - 0. All in favor 

12. Mr. Farquer provided the monthly administrative report. 

13. Motion by Hanson, second by Kutkat to enter executive session to discuss performance of personnel pursuant 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) and student discipline pursuant 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9). All in favor. Motion carried. 

14. Motion by Howard, second by Hanson to return to open session. All in favor. Motion carried. 

15. Motion by Tucker, second by Howard to adjourn. All in favor. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned.
