Knoxville Community Unit School District 202 Board of Education met Nov. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

November 5, 2019

The Board of Education of Community Unit School District #202, Knox County, met in a special meeting duly called and held November 5, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at 600 East Main Street, Knoxville, Illinois, which is within the boundaries of said District. The President called the meeting to order and directed that the roll be called. Upon roll being called, the following members were found to be present:

Mr. Ericson, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Lenz, Mrs. McCracken, Mrs. Myers, Mr.

Stearns and Mr. Callahan

And the following absent: None

Also present; Caden Ericson, Jeff Shragal, John Pulliam, Andy Fleisher, Dennis Maurer, Rob Link, Randy Bryan, Chad Clevenger, Jane Larson, Denny Larson, Jared Hawkinson, Tara Bahnks, Mark Parrish, Ryan Wessling and Nick Ischer.

4. Approval of District E-Learning Plan (Discussion & Action) Tabled

5. It was moved by Member Myers and seconded by Member Johnson to Approve Tom Walter as the District Treasurer.

Roll call vote was as follows:

AYE: Mr. Ericson, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Lenz, Mrs. McCracken, Mrs. Myers, Mr. Stearns and Mr. Callahan NAY: None

6. Town Hall Meeting (Discussion Only)

Several members of the audience asked questions and made suggestions regarding the Solar Project and Artificial Turf. Additional discussion included financing for both projects, including the impact on future tax levies. There was conversation regarding Mr. Wilder's recommendation for the Board to put non binding advisory questions on the ballot for the primary in March, regarding both projects. Some audience members asked about rational for advisory questions and a suggestion was made for the votes to be binding. Mr. Wilder explained the rationale for his recommendation for votes to be non binding.

Also, discussion regarding E-Sports at KHS, regarding the development of an E-Sports team and its future, which included funding and equipment.

Discussion regarding Mable Woolsey being identified as an underperforming school by the Register-Mail, even though it is not an underperforming school. Mr. Wilder has asked for a correction to be issued. Knoxville Junior High has also been identified as underperforming..

8. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Member McCracken and seconded by Member Myers that the meeting be adjoumed. The President put the question to the Board and the motion unanimously carried and the meeting so adjourned at 8:13 p.m.

AYE: Mr. Ericson, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Lenz, Mrs. McCracken, Mrs. Myers, Mr. Stearns and Mr. Callahan NAY: None

Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
