City of Galesburg City Council met Oct. 3.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
Chris called the meeting to order at 6:31 P.M.
The commission reviewed the minutes of the last two meetings.
McKillip made a motion to accept.
Kelley seconded.
Motion passed.
King welcomed Commissioner Lopez and he introduced himself.
McKillip call Dr. Asplund and Tiffany Springer to discuss a video showing an education documentary from the makers of racial taboo.
Donaldson still to talk to Jodi Scott about allowing for credit.
Brief discussion regarding census and the commission's actions to potentially assist. Ideas were generated. The discussion was tabled.
King and Grimes to bring information regarding census back to the commission.
McKillip and Medley to have initial conversation with district 205.
Grimes reported on info from the comprehensive plan and park and rec‘s plan to assist in the creation of the memorial for the Massachusetts 54th.
Chairperson King reminded new commissioners of open meeting act training as well as review and confirm contact information for commissioners.
Closing remarks.
Grimes encouraged commissioners to become members of NAACP.
