Abingdon-Avon Community Unified School District 276 met Oct. 9.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
1. The regular meeting of the Abingdon-Avon CUSD 276 Board of Education was held on October 9, 2019. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. with Brooks presiding. The following members were present: Craver, Terwilliger, Mason, Serven, Hess and Brooks. Mr. Quinn was absent.
2. A motion was made by Mr. Hess and seconded by Mr. Mason to approve the Agenda. Roll call: Craver, yea; Terwilliger, yea; Mason, yea; Serven, yea; Hess, yea; and Brooks, yea. Motion passed.
3. A motion was made by Mr. Serven and seconded by Mrs. Terwilliger to go into Executive Session at 7:10 p.m. Roll call: Craver, yea; Terwilliger, yea; Mason, yea; Serven, yea; Hess, yea; and Brooks, yea. Motion passed.
4. A motion was made by Mr. Mason and seconded by Mr. Serven to return to Open Session at 7:59 p.m. Roll call: Craver, yea; Terwilliger, yea; Mason, yea; Serven, yea; Hess, yea; and Brooks, yea. Motion passed.
5. A motion was made by Mr. Serven and seconded by Mrs. Terwilliger to approve the Consent Agenda. Roll call: Craver, yea; Terwilliger, yea; Mason, yea; Serven, yea; Hess, yea; and Brooks, yea. Motion passed.
6. Principals Andrews, Weedman, and Anderson presented their monthly building-level Principal Reports.
7. Mrs. MacGregor presented the Curriculum Director monthly report.
8. Superintendent Curry presented the monthly Superintendent Report and discussed the following:

3. Summer Project Update:
3.1 Roof Work Update - All work is nearly completed. HGS should be wrapping up shortly.
4. Staff Members of the Month for September - Mrs. Jennifer Waller and Mr. Tim Repp
5. New Driver Education Car / New Van(s) / Old White Van - Dr. Curry noted that the district is in need of a new driver education car. He also noted that if the district looks to hire a third maintenance person, a work van would be a good option for that position. He also noted that the old white van that was asked about at the previous month's meeting was scrapped along with the district's older activity bus.
6. Response to Land Sale Questions from September Meeting - Dr. Curry noted that were no in-office documents supporting the claim by the community member, at the September meeting, that stated the land must be returned by the seller if not used fo building purposes with a specific timeframe. Additionally, the attorney noted that the firm recommended not putting such language in the original agreement.
7. Sponsorship Update - Dr. Curry presented updated contract language with Galesburg Toyota.
8. Solar Project Inquiry - Dr. Curry mentioned that he has been approached by a Solar Firm and asked if the Board had interest in exploring solar power. The Board stated it would be interested in hearing from the company.
9. A motion was made by Mr. Serven and seconded by Mr. Mason to approve the September Personnel Report. Roll call: Craver, yea; Terwilliger, yea; Mason, yea; Serven, yea; Hess, yea; and Brooks, yea, Motion passed.
10. A motion was made by Mr. Craver and seconded by Mrs. Terwilliger to adjourn at 8:26 p.m. Roll call: Craver, yea; Terwilliger, yea; Mason, yea; Serven, yea; Hess, yea; and Brooks, yea. Motion passed.
