CALL TO ORDER
The budget hearing of the United Board of Education was called to order at 6:00 p.m. September 12, 2019. Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin, Joel Johnson, Debbie King and Craig Allaman. Also in attendance: Sheila Pressley, Carson Clayton, Ryan Westart, Bill Phillips, Chris Schwarz, Amy Schmitz, Pat Coate, Keeley Brinkmeier, Khristi, Jeff & Abbie Kramer, Nicole and Tony Hull.
BUDGET HEARING
The proposed budget was discussed as amended.

Craig Allaman made a motion to adjourn the budget hearing at 6:07 p.m.

SUCCESS
New teachers Keeley Brinkmeier, Nichole Hull & Khristi Kramer were introduced to the board.
BOARD BUSINESS
Bill Phillips spoke with the board about the life safety/facility listing.
Discussion was also held regarding solar power options for the district.
TENT BUDGET
A motion to approve the budget for FY20 as presented during the budget hearing was made by Hank Shimmin with a second by Craig Allaman Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.
SNOW BIDS
Craig Allaman made a motion to approve snow removal bids from: Tom Hall - West Campus, Chris Carson - H.S. and Eric Olson - North Campus. Joel Johnson seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.
FACILITIES
Hank Shimmin made a motion to remove the Alexis Fieldhouse from the list of ROE listed facilities. Craig Allaman seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.
DELABAR
A motion was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Debbie King to approve the joint agreement for Delabar CTE System. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.
SWIMMER
A motion to approve an individual boys’ swimmer for the 2019-20 IHSA season was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Debbie King. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.
SUPT. REPORT
Superintendent Whitsitt reported that legislation has been passed to use the 1% sales tax money to pay the salary of a resource officer. This would have to be passed with a resolution. Current enrollment for the district is 939. It was discussed that a formal form will be created for employee’s children that live out of district but attend United.
CONSENT AGENDA
A motion to approve the consent agenda as presented was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Joel Johnson. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Debbie King. Nay – none.
CLOSED SESSION
At 7:52, Debbie King a made a motion to enter into closed session, with intent to return to open, for the purpose of appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. The selection of a person to fill a public office, including a vacancy in public office, when the District is given power to appoint under law, or the discipline, performance or removal of the occupant of a public office, when the District is given power to remove the occupant under law. Aaron Leary seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.
RESIGNATION
A motion was made by Debbie King with a second by Joel Johnson to regretfully accept the resignation of Shelagh Blaser, West Elementary teacher. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Debbie King and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.
EMPLOYMENT
Aaron Leary made a motion to employ Jennifer Stoneking as National Honor Society sponsor. Joel Johnson seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.
A motion to employ Amanda Keith as H.S. Scholastic Bowl Coach was made by Debbie King with a second by Hank Shimmin. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.
Hank Shimmin made a motion to employ Chad Robertson as JH Boys’ Basketball coach for the 19-20 school year. Joel Johnson seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Debbie King, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.
