Sherrard High School senior Joshua Gibson was recently the guest and Honorary Page of state Rep. Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) in Springfield.
An Illinois scholar, Gibson made the visit on Oct. 29 for the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“Joshua is an exceptional young man with a bright future and I am honored to have hosted him as an Honorary Page,” Swanson said in a press release. “Joshua represented his family and community well and made a great impression on my colleagues in the Illinois House.”
In addition to his academics, Joshua also finds the time to be active with cross country, marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, pep band, theater, track and field, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society, for whom he served as Veterans Affairs Officer.
An Eagle Scout (a member of the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood) and a member of Viola United Methodist Church, Joshua plans to attend Georgetown University, majoring in history and political science.
