Henderson County Public Library issued the following announcement on Oct. 3.
Henderson County Genealogy & Family History Society will meet at the Henderson County Public Library on Thursday, October 17, 2019, 7:00 pm.
Earl Walrath, a metal detector hobbyist from Keokuk, Iowa, will be the speaker. He calls his presentation "Metal Detectors 101". His love for the outdoors and history led him to his interest in metal detectors and his pursuit of "treasures". In 2003, he helped form the Iliniwek hunting organization that assists state archaeological entities in the exploration of promising sites. He will bring some of the "treasures" he has found over the past 50 years to share with us. Everyone is invited.
Bring a friend. It will be fun.
The Geneaology Society business meeting will follow Mr. Walrath's program.
