State Sen. Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) recently took time in a social media post to assure the people of his district he is doing all he can to make sure they receive the federal assistance they are entitled to stemming from a season of historic rainfall and flooding across the state.

“Pleased be assured that I am continuing to monitor our response and will continue to work with the appropriate state and federal agencies to get people the help they need,” Weaver recently posted on Facebook. “We hope to hear good news from FEMA and the USDA in the next week or two.”

According to Weaver, the list of counties impacted by all the bad weather recently grew to eight, with Henry and Knox counties joining a list that already included Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, Mercer, Peoria and Woodford counties.

“State agencies are working with FEMA and the USDA to ensure Illinois receives federal funding for our disaster areas,” Weaver added. “The Illinois Department of Agriculture will be making funds available to farmers impacted by the rains and flooding.”

Weaver added the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) is working to ensure floodwaters are under control and that the federal government is aware of the state's needs.
