The data shows that 41 men and nine women were released in the Galesburg zip code. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age was 35. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2017, and the oldest was a 50-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2018.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Dennis Wilbur. He was convicted of homicide in 1990, when he was 16 years old. He is now 45.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
