City of Galesburg Youth Commission met March 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

Chairman Cunningham called the meeting to order at 4:33 p.m.

Present: Sue Cunningham, Cheryl Hager, Lindsey Powell, Judi Minor, and Sarah Wallenfelsz. Absent: Andy Bonis. Ex-Officios: Lauren Dynes and Becky Jollay.

Sarah Wallenfelsz moved, seconded by Cheryl Hager, to approve the minutes from the January 10, 2019 meeting. The minutes were approved.

Public Comment

No Public was present

Report - Recreation Division

Lauren Dynes presented the ‘Programs and Special Events’ flyer produced by Galesburg Parks and Recreation that is now included in residents’ monthly water bill. The annual Easter Egg Hunt draws hundreds of children.

Old Business

The Annual Adult Service to Youth Award’s deadline was pushed to April 18. Plans to promote the award on local radio fell through. Chairman Cunningham will visit the Register Mail to potentially drum up awareness with an article. Sarah will reach out to the Knox College Volunteer Center and Library. Becky Jollay will have the nomination form posted on the City’s website.

New Business

Chairman Cunningham will be setting date and details for acknowledgement of retired Associate Planner, Julie Main.

Chairman Cunningham has been in contact with Ashley Nicole of Youth Leadership Group as potential commission member for next year.

The VFW Women’s Auxiliary Quarter Auction, a family friendly event, takes place April 24th.

Judi Minor moved, seconded by Sarah Wallenfelsz to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 4:48 p.m.
