Galesburg East Campgrounds issued the following announcement on June 20.
EMAIL TO A CAMPGROUND OWNER: We are travelling with our dog. She is well behaved and well groomed. We would very much like to stay a few nights at your campground. Do you permit dogs?
IMMEDIATE REPLY: I have operated this campground for many years. In all that time I have never had a dog steal a shower head, bathroom tissue, drain stoppers, etc. I have never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night for being drunk and disorderly and a dog has never left without paying. Yes, your dog is most welcome to stay here and if she will vouch for you; you may stay too.
