FAT FISH PUB: No Reason at Fat Fish Pub

Music

Fat Fish Pub recently issued the following announcement.

Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 7 PM – 9 PM CDT

THIRD WEDNESDAY OF EVERY MONTH // NO COVER

The group No Reason originates from Galesburg, Illinois and performs atmospheric, folk-pop pieces from a diverse range of artists including Jackson Browne, Neil Young, David Bowie, REM, The Eagles, Radiohead, Bonnie Raitt, Cat Stevens, Crowded House and Crosby Stills Nash and Young, to name just a few. The No Reason playlist spans four decades and can be enjoyed by a listening audience of almost any age. No Reason also performs original compositions as well.

The founding musicians of No Reason are Jon Wellerdieck: guitar, vocals and viola; and Dan Yasenko: vocals, percussion and guitar. The addition of Jim Lindberg (resophonic guitar), Tammy Rankin (lead and harmony vocals, mandolin), and George Mehall (lead and harmony vocals, guitar) added depth, detail and resulted in a ensemble that is full, yet retains a sense of musical subtlety. Both Lindberg’s and Rankin’s fondness for traditional and bluegrass music has added an “alt country” flavor to the playlist. Lindberg’s playing style ranges from earthy and time-honored interpretations of traditional and popular music, to fiery, wailing solos that capture the intensity and angst of Neil Young at his electric-best. Rankin’s vocals, which alternate from pure and gently-lilting, to bluesy and insistent, never fail to inspire and move. Rankin’s interpretations of Bonnie Raitt are consistently audience favorites. Rankin’s mandolin adds drive and brightens the overall feel of the group, just as it brightens the perspective of any listeners within earshot. Mehall’s ear for a fourth-part harmony never ceases to amaze the members of the group or the listening audience. His tasteful guitar leads betray his history with the popular, area country-rock band, “Open Road.” In addition, you can witness and hear Mehall’s dedication to the music of Neil Young when he chants his familiar request for “More Neil!”
