Former state school employee Corben paid in $42K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $628K in retirement

Former state school employee Ange Corben, who retired in May 2016, saved $41,955 toward a pension over 14 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Corben would collect as much as $627,573, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Galesburg Reporter.

The projection assumes Corben received $13,191 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Corben will have already received $55,188 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
