City of Galesburg Planning and Zoning Commission met Feb. 19.

MEMBERS ABSENT: Roger Carlson, Greg Davis, Leigh Nygard, David Uhlmann, 4.
OTHERS PRESENT: Stephen Gugliotta AICP.
Chairman declared quorum present.
Approve Minutes of the December 18, 2018 meeting
Member Thomas moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Member Lee.
Minutes were approved by voice vote.
Update Past Planning and Zoning Commission items
Special Use application to allow the sale of guns at 1515 E Main Street. PIN 99-11-481- 026. The Special Use was approved.
Zoning map amendment application to rezone property from R1A, Single Family District to B2, General Business District for an expansion of Dave’s Autobody. PIN 99-13-331- 015 and part of 99-13-331-025. It was on first reading at the January 7, 2019 Council meeting and on final reading at the January 24, 2019 Council meeting, where it was approved.
Minor plat for Murray Subdivision. The subdivision was approved by City Council at their January 7, 2019 meeting.
PZ-19-0201 Public Hearing Sign Variance to allow a pole sign at 21 foot 6 inches in height instead of the allowed 20 feet, located at 1581 East Main Street. PIN 99-11-481-025.
Petitioner was present.
The Commission members considered the following items:
The granting of the requested variance would not be detrimental to or endanger the public health, safety, morals, comfort or general welfare;
The granting of the variance would not be injurious to the use and enjoyment of other property in the immediate vicinity, nor substantially diminish or impair property values within the adjacent area;
The Development Review Committee reviewed the proposed Sign variance at their February 7, 2019 meeting and recommend approval.
Member Lee moved, seconded by Member McKelvie to approve the Sign Variance.

Nays: None.
Abstentions: None.
PZ-19-0202 Consider Excused absence of Member Carlson from the December 18, 2018 meeting.
Member Lee moved, seconded by Member Kelley to approve the excused absence.
Excused absence was approved by voice vote.
