City of Galesburg Tree Commission met March 11.

Meeting was called to order by Ann Pennington at 4:00 P.M.
Roll Call: Present: Members: Ann Pennington, Millie Allen, Pat Trant, City Arborist-Ryan Creek and Director of Parks & Recreation, Tony Oligney-Estill
Absent: Jake Morgan
Minutes of February 11, 2019 where approved.
Arborist Report:
• The Arborist report was approved.

• The Arborist report was approved.

• Four companies submitted proposals for the tree inventory. Staff is recommending Davey Resource Group out of Kent, Ohio with a per tree price of $3.65.
• The possible creation of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will not be considered until at least May of 2019 if not later.
• Commission members reviewed both the Arboricultural Specifications Manual and the City of Galesburg Urban Forest Manual. Edits were submitted to Tony Oligney-Estill to make changes.
New Business:
• The City is using a information system called Public Service Request (PSR) as a way for community members to inform the City about issues such as tree needs, street repair needs and vandalism in addition to this system will keep whichever community member that reported the issue informed on the process of resolving that issue. Community members can either use email or download an app. People may still call in with an issue but unless they use email or the app, the person reporting the issue will need to continue to call in to get updates. City staff is offering a few trainings on this system to the general public at City Hall on March 21 at 6pm, March 23 at 10am and March 26 at 2pm.
Citizen Comments:
• A citizen would like to have a tree looked inspected at 59 Imperial Drive. Resident would like the tree removed. The last time the Arborist looked at the tree, he thought it was a living tree. The Arborist will take a look at the tree in May to see if there are leaves blooming on the tree.
