Report: Galesburg spent $8,606 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Galesburg Community Unit School District 205 is down 0.9 percent from five years ago, according to a Galesburg Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Knox County school district spent $8,686 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,606 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 4433 to 4384.

Galesburg's spending in 2017-18 was 35.5 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
