City of Galesburg Community Relations Commission met October 4

City of Galesburg Community Relations Commission met Oct. 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

Attendees:

Chris King

Anthony Law

Carrie McKillip

Jessica Pease

Shauna Pugh

Peter Schwartzman

Chris called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m.

Motion to approve meeting minutes by King

Seconded by McKillip

Motion carried

Tentative date for Racial Taboo training was set for 4/19/19 at 6:00 p.m.

Schwartzman suggested checking to see if there are any other events that may be going on that day.

King will check and bring the info to the next meeting.

Attendees read over contribution letter provided by King and provided feedback. Commission may do sponsorship levels to print on the programs to encourage more giving. Final draft of letter is forthcoming and will be provided to commission before distribution.

Pease explained sponsorship guidelines to members. Commission is looking for program sponsors for refreshments, facility, programs, etc. McKillip may be able to get programs printed.

Commission discussed facility use and possibilities. Law indicated that we most likely could use CSC, commission would like something in inner Galesburg area. Lombard seems to be the idea spot. We are waiting to hear from superintendent, John Asplund to see if Dist 205 facilities could be used.

Schwartzman discussed upcoming program at Knox taking place 10/17/18. There is going to be a dialogue on issues relevant to the commission (race, gender, etc.) Will let us know if it is open to the public.

King asked members to give suggestions on open commission seats.

King made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by McKillip. Motion carried
