Watson Thomas Funeral Home & Crematory issued the following announcement

Myra Celeste Chambers, 64, of Galesburg, formerly of Monmouth, died at 7:17 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

Myra was born October 9, 1954 in Galesburg, the daughter of Roy Ray land Junella (Wilson) Melton, Sr. Myra is survived by one daughter, Janessa L. (husband, Larry Meyers, Jr.) Tinkham of Gary, IN; two brothers, Roy R. Melton of Great Falls, MT and Steven (wife, AmyJo) Melton of Canandaigua, NY; three granddaughters, Angeleena, Jessa, and Payton; as well as two nieces. Myra is also survived by her best friend, Beverly Coulter of Lynn Center and her beloved dog, Stubby. Myra was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jason E. Tinkham.

Myra graduated from Galesburg High School in 1972 and received her nursing degree from Carl Sandburg College. She worked as a registered nurse for many years. She loved arts and crafts and was recently active in all activities at Seminary Manor. Myra also enjoyed adult coloring books, eating, and shopping. Myra had a great relationship with the Lord.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A remembrance hour will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home.
