City of Galesburg Overall Code Review Commission met August 9.

A meeting of the Overall Code Review Commission meeting was held on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. in the Erickson Conference Room of Galesburg City Hall.
Members present were Rev. James Ecklund, Jay Feely, Ken Swanson, Dale Sugden, and Mike Groom, 5. Kyle Kelly, Mike Howard, Brian Benbow was absent, 3. Also present was Rory Speidel (Building Inspector), Richard Slagel (Plumbing/HVAC Inspector).
Member Ecklund called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Chairman Ecklund declared a quorum present.
The first order of business was a consideration of the minutes of the March 3rd, 2018 meeting.
Member Ken Swanson moved to approve the minutes as submitted, seconded by Member Jay Feely.
Minutes were approved by voice vote.
The next item on the agenda was receipt of general citizen comments. There were no general citizen comments.
Next on the agenda was item OC-18-801, variance request of Section 705.5, of the 2012 International Building Code (IBC) to allow the fire resistance rating of an exterior wall with a fire separation distance less than 10 feet to have 2 layers of drywall on the inside instead of the required 1 layer on both sides, located at 340 S. Kellogg Street.
The petitioner was not present for the discussion.
After discussion between Commission Members and City Staff, the Commission decided to table Item OC-18-801 due to no petitioner being present for discussion, moved by member Ken Swanson and seconded by Member Jay Feely.

Nays: None.
Abstentions: None.
Chairman Ecklund declared the motion approved.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 5:37 p.m.
