United Community Unit School District 304 students suspended 78 times in a single school year

United Community Unit School District 304 reported 78 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 78 students during the year. That equates to 8 percent of the 980 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 55 incidents. There were four incidents of violence without physical injury. For 54 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes nine incidents. There were four incidents of violence without physical injury. For nine incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
