Monmouth Roseville Community Unit School District 238 students suspended 42 times in a single school year

Monmouth Roseville Community Unit School District 238 reported 42 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 42 students during the year. That equates to 2.4 percent of the 1,718 students enrolled.

Of the 16 in-school suspensions, all were given to boys, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes 14 incidents. There were two incidents of drugs. For eight incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 26 out-of-school suspensions, all were given to boys, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes 25 incidents. There were one incidents of drugs. For 19 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
