ROWVA Community Unit School District 208 students suspended 43 times in a single school year

ROWVA Community Unit School District 208 reported 43 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 43 students during the year. That equates to 7 percent of the 617 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 15 incidents. There were three incidents of violence without physical injury. For 17 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 25 out-of-school suspensions, including 15 elementary or middle schoolers and 10 high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 13 incidents. There were eight incidents of violence without physical injury. For 14 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
