Elba-Salem Fire Protection District responded to 16 calls in 2017 - 5.9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Elba-Salem included 15 fires - eight structure fires and seven other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $62,500 in fire loss - or about $4,167 per fire.

The Elba-Salem Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $112,286 in 2017.
