Abingdon Fire Protection District responded to 67 calls in 2017 - 71.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Abingdon included 32 fires - four structure fires, five vehicle fires and 23 other fires.

In all, the department saw $165,930 in fire loss - or about $5,185 per fire.

The department also received 35 false calls.

The Abingdon Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $246,881 in 2017.
